I have been wanting to hang Christmas lights for years but the wiring to outdoor always irks me. Finally, LED + solar power has elegantly addressed such concern. At least theoretically. While the light looks beautiful indoor, its outdoor performance is rather pale. My neighbors traditional lights quickly drown my lights with their brightness. With 50 lights, spreading them over 3 feet would not be feasible as they are just too weak to be beautiful.

Every year at Christmas, my light bill goes up. Considering all the other extra expenses at Christmas, this is a time to find ways to save money while still enjoying Christmas. I looked into solar Christmas lights and thought I would give this a try. I’m glad I did. The lights are smaller than I thought they would be, but they glow brightly enough to be seen from the street, which is the whole point. I particularly like the colors. The description says the lights flash or twinkle, but the bottom of the unit says flashing or solid. I would have liked the twinkle lights, but flashing looks very nice. I’ll be getting another set for next year.

In our home growing up we always had strings of C9 lights decorating our home. I’ve continued that tradition on my own home with limited success. The inclusion of fuses for safety purposes made holiday lighting so much of a challenge it ultimately, for this home, eliminated it. The fuses blew frequently, and were difficult to locate at the same retailers that sold the strings. Factor in the difficulties of determining which string or strings fuse blew, prying open the fuse compartment and replacing the fuse without dropping/losing it (esp. difficult in freezing weather conditions), and the ever increasing energy costs to keep them lit and it’s easy to see why my home hasn’t looked very festive in recent years.

Enter the new era of C9 LED lights. The answer to my prayers? Well… you might say that. I opted for the GKI/Bethlehem set over others preferring the familiar “smooth” surface of the bulbs over the “diamond cut” style offered elsewhere.

I had some concerns over the brightness the bulbs would offer so initially limited my order to one set. Once received I was satisfied enough to order two more sets. All three sets have survived the season w/o a problem, and thankfully, no blown fuses (though they do use them).

Overall I’m very satisfied with the product. The blue bulb in the string is a bit of an odd shade, pretty, but takes some time to get used to. Also I notice the visibility of the lit string in daylight is significantly less than traditional C9 sets which, for me, was a bit of a disappointment.

I love this product. I purchased these globes in 2 sizes for my dining room. They sit on a platter on top of my china hutch. They give off beautiful light and look gorgeous with the assorted candles and ornaments also on the platter.

The snowflakes are composed of a very hard and durable, clear plastic which surrounds the LED lights. When the lights are on outside they are truly beautiful. Have received many compliments from the neighbors! They are very pricey, but I am hoping that they last for quite a while. They look great strung from a front yard tree and are the highlight of our blue and white display!

I was surprised to find that the string consisted of six icicles about 8 inches in diameter. I thought I had missed something but looking over the product description that information seems to be lacking. I am satisfied with the quality and function of the lights but won’t be putting them on a tree as I had imagined.
